Welcome to North America !

Ha ha, qu'est-ce que tous ces petits trucs m'ont manque pendant mes vacances Francaises...

1. The fake leg and the Liquor Store

Because in BC you can not buy alcoholic drinks in a supermarket (darn !), you have to go all the way to the Liquor Store. And when you don't own a car, it just sucks. Fortunately, all the good stories take place in Liquor Stores !

Last week, i went to the Liquor Store to get some booze for a party. Just by the cashier, there were a customer and a seller, holding in her hand.. a fake leg. I mean a plastic leg, a prosthesis, une prothese !

The poor guy had apparantly lost his foot in the store, and the kind seller was helping him out. Not a big deal. Just holding a prosthesis in her hand, just by the entrance.

A regular day at the Liquor Store, i'm sure.

2. The Manucure (and the pedicure)

Yesterday, i was in the 99 B Line (i haven't bought my bus pass yet :)) and had a look at the guy next to me's feet... Pedicure. Light Shiny Peach color. So i looked again at the guy's face, and yes it was a man. Well more of a young boy, in his 20's. I looked then at his hand, to make sure it was a Male. He had a nice manucure. A flowery manucure, as every single nail had a little flower on it... So i looked again at the guy. But yes, it was a male. Who takes better care of his nails than I do...

3. The dentist

For the very first time, i went to the dentist in Canada yesterday. Naive, i thought I would just walk out after my exam (sans passer par la case Caisse). I had given them my Insurance number. Well they quickly reminded me that i had to pay the deductible (comme une franchise, pour l'annee) plus 40% of the exam (not covered by my insurance... Sweeeet).

Un peu comme ca mais en version Asiatique

Anyway, the dentist looked like a model and his office had a 180 degres view on Fasle Creek/Downtown. Gorgeous (the view).

But the best part, besides the all fancy technology and lots of clear explanation (amazing by the way how much more modern it is than my dentist in France), the best part was the TV screen on the ceiling. I could only see it when i was completely horizontal... Oh a TV ! Oh.. sports channel :(

4. The cats

Oh how much i missed my long evening conversations with all my neighbors about the neighborhood cats !

5. The gym

Oh ! How much i missed boxing while i was in France. Since i've been back 3 weeks ago, i exactly went 12 times. And i can't get enough. As my coach was telling yelling at the beginner students yesterday "Your mind is telling you You can't do it. But it's not true. Yoour body can do it. It's only mental !!"".

I knew it !!
