Another saturday on Earth

Publié le par Hello Stéphanie

Another day, another week. Another week-end.
Time pass too fast, but i keep enjoying everything single day, everything single breathe, sun ray, sunset, smile. I keep enjoying looking at funny people in the street, weirdos, drunk couples in the bus on a saturday night, crazy drivers, bimbos on their heels, hockey fans, cute doggies and wild squirrels.
I keep my eyes wide open, to make sure i won't miss anything out there. I keep thinking that everybody has something to give in the street, even tho they don't even see it, even tho they think they are the less interesting person in the city.
I can't wait for breakfasts on the balcony, bbq on the beach or in the backyard, freesbee, swimming in Kits pool, sunset on English Bay or Spanish Banks.
But right now, spring is surrounding us, with beautiful pinky and white cherry blossoms in every street. Kits is all about white and pink and it's just beautiful.

Claire left yesterday. Maybe I'll see her in Paris this summer, who knows... My great french friends here will be in France at the exact same time, and keep trying to convice me to come, with, in my suitcases, a groovy canadian. We'll see...

Today is a kindof sunny saturday. Another day. We lost one of your funkiest souls, another one.

While i was coming back from the airport yesterday, I couldn't help but thinkng about the souls i said good bye to, in just 3 years.
Too many farewells, too many airports, too many tears. Trop de retrouvailles et trop de departs.
In only one year, 2006, i said good bye to all my dear friends and family in France. Only 2 months later, i was seeing my Australian Boy taking a plane to go home. Few months later, my great friend Virginie was going back to Provence, followed by my best first friends in Van, Laure, Alex, Guillaume and Charlotte. La fin d'une ere, celle d'un PVT. The same year, Fab, Melissa and other people left Vancouver as well.
2007, after a very emotional visit in France, the first since i'd left, i was saying good bye to Gaelle, back to Europ, and Valentin was going back to France, waiting for his permanent residency. I was back to France for almost 2 months in the summer. Leaving again was a hard, hard time.
2008, ex.Cheri left for the North, leaving a huge empty space in the apartment. One of my colleagues and friend moved to Chili with her husband. Few months later, Cecile, my good friend is moving to San Francisco, and the 4-girls breakfasts became a 3-girls thing... The 3rd one is about moving and soon, we'll need to hire someone new...

I realized that there had been so many tears, so many emotions, so many "It will be okay", i wondered how many Good Byes a basic human can take. Seriously.. Does it have to be a part of the expat life ? I know now that i couldnt move away again, to start everything from the beginning, without .. i don't know, a great great great job offer.. in New York for instance.
Starting again from the beginning, making new friends again... and saying good bye to the other ones. One time in France has been way enough 3 years ago.
That's why, right after i came back from the airport, i asked Brandon if he was really planning to stay here for a while.
The answer was "Yes !".

And it fell good.

It's hard to left people we love behind and it's hard to be left behind too and it seems to me that the older we become the harder it gets. I'm happy you got, a last, someone to lean on to.
